"Volunteers Protecting Our Community"
STATION 9
The Northwest Pocket Fire Department began providing fire protection in 1984 to help better protect the Northwestern section of Lee County in the Pocket Community through the hard work and dedication of area concerned volunteers. Since that time, this organization has grown from a small three (3) bay fire station to a six (6) bay fire station including a meeting - classroom housing six (6) pieces of apparatus and a portable light tower. We have future plans of building an additional sub-station which will house an Engine and Tanker as well another Brush Unit to place more citizens in a rated insurance fire district.
Like back then, we remain having numerous hard working citizens who care deeply about the difference they are making within their community. Our volunteer staff is made up of approximately forty (40) men and women. We have four (4) Part-time Driver-Firefighters day time paid staff. Also we have a Junior Firefighter Program with members between the ages 16-18. Over the years we have responded to numerous emergency incidents including motor vehicle accidents, structure fires, hazardous materials incidents, lost persons incidents, medical assistance calls and so much more. We now have in Lee County, three (3) department structural responses as part of the countywide automatic mutual aid. We also provide mutual aid support to fire department in both Chatham and Moore Counties.
Northwest Pocket Volunteers are a close knit family who has a true passion for helping others. These Men and Women take pride in what they do. We are "Volunteers Protecting Our Community." We are the Northwest Pocket Fire Department.
